CORNWALL’S firefighters have been named as the best in the country at the Local Government Public Sector Awards.

At a ceremony staged in London by iESE, Cornwall received the award for ‘Fire and Rescue Service of the Year 2018’.

The awards recognise innovations and change in public services that have delivered the biggest improvement for the lives of residents and local businesses.

A spokesperson for Cornwall Fire and Rescue said: ‘We are extremely proud of all the staff that make such a difference to residents, businesses and visitors to Cornwall.’
