Volunteers at Dobwalls football club had a narrow escape after fire broke out in a workshop yesterday afternoon.
The quick response of Liskeard and Callington Fire crews prevented the clubhouse at Dobwalls from being completely destroyed, said manager Simon Westlake, who described his relief that no-one was injured.
Having tackled the blaze, firefighters urged the community to get behind the club as it deals with the clear-up and repairs - and pledges of help have been coming in.
There’ll be more on this story with photos and interviews in this week’s Cornish Times, out tomorrow.
