THE sector inspector for South East Cornwall has berated those repsonsible for vandalism to a police car yesterday for their ’absolute selfishness’.
Sgt Chris Chilcott said he had parked his vehicle at Saltmill Park in Saltash, and when he returned, the windscreen had been smashed.
Insp Rupert Engley said: ’This takes one of my team’s vehicles off the road, which will have a direct impact on our ability to respond. Absolute selfishness.’
A spokesperson for Groundworks, which looks after the Saltmill Park, said:’Sad to see this. We have have suffered damage in the football pitch and around the park. Our staff are furloughed and we have no income, so we struggle to be on site too long. Tough times for lots of people and businesses.’
