LISKEARD'S youngsters lifted the East Cornwall Under-15 League Cup with a 3-2 victory, but they were made to work hard by their St Stephens counterparts in this thrilling encounter.
They started strongly, dominating possession in the opening exchanges, and were unlucky not to take the lead when Matt Lorenz's 18-yard strike hit the base of the upright.
It looked only a matter of time before the Blues would score, but they were stung by a five-minute period of madness which allowed St Stephen to establish a two-goal advantage.
Liskeard goalkeeper Ross Drinkell – usually so calm and reliable – mis-judged a hopeful through-ball to allow the St Stephen centre forward a simple tap in, before the stopper completely mis-kicked a poor clearance to leave an open goal for number two.
This spurred the Blues into overdrive, with skipper Jack Quaintance leading the charge.
