ST CLEER'S Kevin Steed was crowned Cornwall Individual Snooker Champion for the seventh time last weekend following a 5-3 victory over another former winner, Steve Downing, from St Rumons.

Downing claimed the first frame after a 40-plus break and started well in the second with a knock of 55.

Steed fought back strongly with a 55 break of his own, only to miss the brown for Downing to take the frame on the pink.

The St Rumons player then established a 3-0 lead and was ahead in the fourth.

That was the cue for Steed, who produced a remarkable comeback to take five frames on the bounce and the title.
