A TEAM from Looe Rifle and Pistol Club are celebrating after winning a silver medal in an area competition.

The six-strong group features a former aircraft engineer, a semi-retired teacher, a builder, a mechanic, a former BBC executive and an ex-Army Major – but that didn't stop Justin Speckley, Roy Hayward, George Withers, Peter Ivey, Nick Timperly and Stuart Williams from clinching second place in the 'South East Cornwall Horseshoe League'.

It has been a good season for the club, who, as well as claiming silverware, have attracted more members, including juniors and some hot pros-pects for the future.

The Horseshoe League is contested by teams from Looe, Bodmin, Liskeard and Polperro, with the Looe club fielding three teams in the Douglas Marshall Cup and ending up with three semi-finalists.
