ONCE again the sense of playing both the Junior and Senior Cup finals on the same day

at the same venue was brought into question.

The Junior Cup final finished 2-2, with Saltash United and Illogan RBL having to replay on April 19, where the game could have been played to a conclusion had it not have to make way for the Senior showdown.

The Newquay pitch cut up badly in the Junior game as incessant rain made condition difficult for both sides in what is supposed to the county's highlight of the season.

Bodmin had early shouts for a penalty ignored by referee George Pattison, who controlled the match with common sense in the worsening conditions.

Only six minutes were on the clock when Neil Slateford skipped around Ashes full-back Steve Sargison before drilling his shot past Ben Elphick.

Saltash did not let heads drop and were back on level terms, 19 minutes later when the Bodmin defence failed to clear their lines and Aaron Cusack was left with ample time to steer the ball beyond Kevin Miller.
