Parents have been inspired to take up exercise thanks to a running club at their children’s school.
PE teacher Oli Jones, who is an endurance runner, came up with the idea of having the after-school club for pupils – and parents.
He said: ‘I didn’t know what level of interest we would have at the start and was amazed by how popular it was with over 30 taking part each week!’
Some of the parents of pupils at Pensilva School had never run before.
Each week the group ran around the local lanes and on the moors, led by experienced running coach and school governors chairman Craig Vaughnley.
The finale activity of the club saw pupils and parents complete a 5km run around Siblyback Lake.
Craig said of the club: ‘It has brought the school community together through running and it was lovely to see children encouraging their parents and vice versa!’
Each parent and child who completed the 5km run received a medal and certificate.
