NOWHERE has the death of one of Cornwall's finest footballers been more poignantly felt than in a Pennines market town hundreds of miles away from his Cornish roots.

While Reg Jenkins played for Plymouth Argyle, Exeter City, Torquay United and Truro City, it was his goalscoring exploits for Rochdale during a

nine-year stay at Spotland which brought him

folk-hero status, writes John Collings.

The word 'legend' is over-used these days but Jenkins, who died on Tuesday, aged 74, was truly revered in the North West.
