SIX of the best snooker players from both the East and the West of Cornwall are competing in a new invitational competition.

The Cornwall Invitational Premier Snooker League has been formed by the Cornwall Billiards and Snooker Association for the 2012-13 season.

The League is split into East and West sections, with six players from each are competing on a round-robin basis and the winners meeting in the final.

In the East section, Darran Lock (Lostwithiel SC) kicked off with a 4-3 victory over Barrie McIntosh (Tregonissey), while Andy Ridgeman (Callington SC) saw off former two-time county champion Richard Lloyd (Bude SC), 5-2.
