MEMBERS of Torpoint Bowling Club are delighted with their new short mat, bought thanks to a £947 grant from Caradon Area Community Fund.

The new mat is up to league standards, enabling bowlers to play on a good surface with all boundary lines clearly marked.

Club president Leonard Hawke believes the club's players will soon notice the difference in their results.

'The first class new short mat will be used for league matches and should provide a league standard for many years to come,' he commented.

The club has two teams in the NE Cornwall Flat Green League and one team in the Plymouth and District League.

It also plays many mixed friendlies and has touring teams as well as a team in the Winter Short Mat league.
