Cornwall’s hopes in the Gasket Guy British Skittles Championships in Torquay on Saturday, September 17, rest on the Everhopefuls ladies team from Pensilva.

The team, who are the most successful team ever in the history of the championships with four titles to their name, nearly didn’t qualify.

They won only two of their six matches in the early rounds and it all hinged on a play-off match against Gill’s Jokers from Bristol.

In the end, they found their form at the weekend with a resounding defeat by 360 points to 332 to book their place in the finals.

The Everhopefuls first won the women’s British Championships back in 2005. Five years later, they were up on the podium again and followed that up with further victories in 2012 and 2014. A fifth British title would cement their place in skittling history.
