LOOE Sailing Club has been invited to attend a champagne reception at which this year's sailing 'Oscars' will be awarded.

As a result of the highly-successful GP.14 World dinghy championships last summer, the club was put forward for 'Event of the Year' in an on-line competition run by Yachts & Yachting, the country's leading sailing magazine.

There were only six nominations for 'the most inspiring sailing event of

the last 12 months' – and when you consider the

regattas and other events which Looe were up against, it's clear to see that the club, and, indeed, the whole town and surrounding area, had really excelled themselveas – because just to be included in such elite company was a huge recognition which reflected greatly on everyone who was involved in the GP.14 Worlds, including the people of the town, and the various authorities who combined to make it all happen.
