IN a must-win game, Liskeard-Looe saw off their hosts, Plymouth Barbarians, 19-10 in the Tribute Cornwall and Devon League.

The visitors had points on the board within five minutes, courtesy of a Baz Hocking penalty, before fly-half Andy Sheer kicked a drop goal to increase the lead.

On the stroke of half-time a penalty kick was awarded in the home 22. No.8 Hocking fed the ball for lock Yestin Hutchings to drive over for a try, but the conversion was missed.

Six minutes after the restart, the Barbarians slotted over a penalty. Four minutes later, the Lions pack were deep inside the home 22 where, from a ruck, Hutchings went over for his second try of the game, again unconverted.

The Lions conceded a converted try in the corner on 75 minutes to set up a nervous last five minutes. Three minutes later, with the Lions in the Barbarians half, a penalty was awarded to Liskeard-Looe for a late tackle.

The referee marched the home side back ten metres for backchat, making it easier shot for Hocking to restore the Lions' nine-point cushion.
