SKITTLES LEAGUE

The league, supporting the Poppy Appeal, has come to its conclusion.

Last Friday the presentation of prizes was made, followed by a buffet which was provided by Sara.

The trophies where presented by club president Jim Haley.

The league was played in support of the Poppy Appeal and more than £130 was raised.

The prizewinners were :

League winners – Cornish Knockers, who won the league with 91 points, 12 points ahead of their nearest rivals Dave’s Five.

Individual prizewinners were – Highest men’s average: Dave Butt of Dave’s Five with an average of 72.40 pins per match.

Ladies’ highest average: Shirley Mills of The Marketeers, with an average of 71.70 pins per match.

Highest men’s score: Lee Penwarden of The Cornish Knockers with a score of 90.

Highest ladies’ score: Jean Whetter of The Choughs with 82.

There were only two 18 spares and these were recorded by Lee Penwarden of The Cornish Knockers and Steve Brown of The Marketeers.

The Singles Competition was won by Keith Lobb of Lobby’s Gang for the men and Gloria Wilton of The Choughs for the ladies

The Pairs competition preceded the presentation and was won by Andy Hicks and Bernie James, both of Dave’s Five with an excellent score of 83.

Second place was snatched by Steve Brown and Alan Cole of The Marketeers, with a score of 78. In the score of 78 Alan Cole returned a fantastic 26 spare only one short of a maximum. This spare was five more than the total of his three previous attempts.
