DUCHY College student Michaela Lamport competes internationally in the Japanese martial art of Karate Kata, and is not only the world champion in the Young Ladies Kata, but is the first woman to have been awarded the 'Performance of Excellence Trophy' for her double win at the Portsmouth Open this year.
Michaela, who is studying a Sport Extended Diploma at Duchy College in Stoke Climsland, has been competing since she was 11 years old, following in the path of her dad, who competed in the same sport.
She gained her black belt in May 2011 and has travelled the world in her quest to compete at national and international level.
Last August, Michaela travelled to Belgium to compete in the World Championships, and achieved her goal to become the Young Ladies Kata world champion.
