Caradon Hockey Club are hoping the Olympic Games gold medal success of the Great Britain hockey women’s team will attract more players to the club this season.

Club spokesman Alf Oliver said: ‘We send massive congratulations to the team and coaches on their historic gold medal achievement.

‘Winning eight out of eight matches against the best in the world is fantastic.

‘And if anybody has been inspired by the Olympics, and by hockey in particular, come and celebrate with us at our first training session of the new season; it’s free. ‘It takes place on Wednesday, September 7 at Lux Park astro pitch starting at 5.45pm for under 14s and 6.45pm for anyone 14 to 114 years.
