Saltash recorded their third successive victory as they swept away a Torpoint side who played the last 30 minutes with only 10 men at Kimberley Stadium on Friday night.

The Ashes were almost out of sight by the 34th minute having established a 3-0 lead with goals from Sam Hughes (17), Reece Thomson (21) and Sam Farrant.

John Heveran gave Torpoint a glimpse of hope by heading in a goal in first half stoppage time - but that hope was wiped out after right back Josh McCabe was sent off in the 61st minute for a second bookable offence.

Ryan Richards completed the scoring in time added on with a tap-in after Torpoint goalkeeper Jason Peters had spilled a long range effort from Dave Barker.

The pick of the Saltash goals was youngster Thomson’s rasping right foot drive from 20 yards which underlined his potential.

Torpoint have been on a good run but they never really recovered from a lacklustre start and then they became frustrated by some of the decisions of referee Neil Lane.

So much so that manager Dean Cardew was ordered out of the dugout midway through the second half for remarks he made.
