The Argyle column, with Kevin Marriott

What better position to go into a match against your deadly local rivals than being top of the table?

Argyle make the relatively short trip to St James’ Park tomorrow sitting pretty at the helm of League Two following a run of five successive victories.

Meanwhile, Exeter City have made a stuttering start to the 2016-17 campaign and might not choose to be facing the Pilgrims this early on.

Results make Argyle hot favourites to continue their storming start to the season – but it might be wise to remember what is said about local derbies.

Form usually goes out of the window in these tussles, and anything can happen.

Basically, it’s a one-off.

Exeter threw in a touch of spice to the occasion this week by signing former Argyle favourite Reuben Reid, and the striker could feature at some stage tomorrow. Is the script written for a Reid winner? We shall see.
