Saltash United 1 Tavistock 4

A missed penalty eight minutes into the second half when they were leading 1-0 proved to be crucial for Saltash as they collapsed to defeat in the last half an hour.

Chris Menhenick’s superb 40th minute direct free kick had given the Ashes the advantage at half-time and they were presented with a great opportunity to double their lead when Ben Davis was adjudged to have fouled Ryan Richards.

But Dave Trott’s spot kick was poor and Tavistock goalkeeper Josh Oak dived low to his left to make a straightforward save.

Within four minutes Tavistock were level when an unmarked Warren Daw headed in Dave Hallett’s corner and three minutes later Jack Crago made it 2-1 from close range.

From that point the visitors were in charge, with Sam Davey coming off the bench to score a 70th minute penalty, and Davey completing the scoring six minutes from time.

In the end Tavistock were worthy winners while Saltash will probably be concerned about a second successive collapse at home, having lost 4-2 to Cribbs in the FA Vase two weeks ago when they were 2-1 ahead with six minutes to go.
