SALTASH United manager Matt Cusack has told the Cornish Times it would be great to break the Carlsberg South West Peninsula League premier division record for successive wins at the start of a season.

Cusack’s Ashes have won 10 out of 10 so far and now travel to Coach Road, Newton Abbot, on Saturday to face second-placed Plymouth Argyle Reserves.

Cusack said: ’Records are there to be broken and it would be great to do it on Saturday.

’We have already equalled the record, and we are delighted about that.’

Saltash’s 1-0 win at St Austell last weekend equalled a record set by Plymouth Parkway at the start of the 2013-14 season.
