Saltash United 5 Liskeard Athletic 0

Ryan Richards warmed up for the new Carlsberg South West Peninsula League premier division season with four goals as Saltash United saw off local rivals Liskeard at Kimberley Stadium on Wednesday night.

Richards opened the scoring in the 13th minute and after Henry Wilson had doubled the lead after 31 minutes, Richards helped himself to three more in the second half after 55, 78 and 90+8 minutes.

The referee played 11 minutes of time added on after Liskeard striker James Lorenz suffered a head injury following a 50-50 challenge with Saltash defender Callum O’Brien in the 59th minute.

Lorenz received almost 10 minutes of treatment on the pitch before being taken on a stretcher to the main exit gates to wait for an ambulance.

There was a 25-minute wait before paramedics arrived and treated him for suspected concussion. Thankfully he was able to walk back to the changing rooms at the end of the game.

Saltash looked strong throughout and although Liskeard played some nice passing football, they were unable to carve out too many opportunities until the game was beyond them.
