Launceston 1 Saltash United 4

Skipper Ryan Richards scored twice as Saltash recovered from a poor start to beat Launceston with something to spare at Pennygillam on Tuesday evening.

When Sam Davey outjumped Ashes keeper Ryan Rickard to head the Clarets into a fifth minute lead, the home side looked in confident mood.

But Richard Maddison fired in an 18th minute equaliser from a cross by Richards, who made it 2-1 three minutes later.

Saltash dominated the remainder of the first half and after Richards produced a sweet chip to increase their lead in the 42nd minute, fellow striker Sam Hughes got into the act with a superb fourth on the stroke of half-time.

In the early part of the second half Launceston pushed hard and twice came close to reducing the arrears, but Saltash recovered again to finish the game in control.
