MACKENZIE Brown has returned to the managerial hotseat at Millbrook – only six months after standing down from the position due to wanting to spend more time with his young family.
Brown had guided the South West Peninsula League Premier East club into a strong position in the league, and Cornwall Senior Cup and Walter C Parson League Cup quarter-finals, when he made his shock decision in early January.
He was replaced by his assistant Mike Heron, who took Millbrook into the semi-finals of the Senior Cup with a 2-0 win over Liskeard, and then the League Cup with a superb 2-0 victory over Saltash United at Jenkins Park in the last game before lockdown.
But Brown is back at the helm now, with Heron continuing to assist him.
Delighted Millbrook chairman Mark Pratten said: ‘It is absolutely fantastic.
‘I am godfather to Macca and his lovely wife Sam’s son, and they are family to me.
‘Myself and Macca talked many times, and it became apparent the flame hadn’t gone out in terms of his desire to do the job and come back and deal with unfinished business, so he is back, which is amazing.
‘Mike stays on as assistant and we have not lost anybody on the playing side.
‘We have kept the entire squad and we have made a couple of additions to that, and from a football perspective, we are trying to improve on what we did last season, but there is no pressure, we will just enjoy it and see where it takes us.’
