St Blazey 1 Liskeard Athletic 2

James Lorenz scored twice in the second half at Blaise Park on Wednesday night to give Liskeard their third successive win and lift them to the top of Carlsberg South West Peninsula League division one west.

Lorenz has now scored eight goals in the opening three games of the season, and could have had more in this match.

St Blazey skipper Harry Eaton had given the home side a 43rd minute lead with a screamer of a shot from 20 yards.

But things turned sour for the Green and Blacks in the 54th minute when goalkeeper Dave England was shown a straight red for kicking out at a Liskeard player.

The referee also awarded a penalty, and Lorenz confidently slotted the ball past Lewis Vooght, the central defender who took over in goal.Despite being down to 10 men, St Blazey kept pushing forward but Liskeard were in the ascendancy and after wasting several good opportunities, they eventually produced a winner.A superb through ball from Jack Podmore sent Lorenz racing clear of the St Blazey back four and he fired a right foot shot past Vooght to make it 2-1.With the last kick of the game, substitute Tom Cleveland missed a great chance to add a third, sending his close range shot against the post.
