Liskeard Athletic could clinch the Carlsberg South West Peninsula League division one west title over the next five days – or even earlier if results go their way.

But they are going to have to earn points against local rivals Dobwalls, who they play twice between now and Wednesday night.

The teams were set to face each other today at Lux Park (3pm kick-off).

And the return is at Lantoom Park next Wednesday with a 6.30pm kick-off. This is the original Boxing Day fixture which was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.

Liskeard won 3-1 at St Dennis on Saturday, courtesy of James Lorenz’s eighth hat-trick of the season.

So they remained six points clear of second placed Mousehole with three games to go.

In theory, Liskeard could be champions by this evening. If Mousehole drop points at home to Penzance, and the Blues win, the Lux Park club could not be caught.
