Callington Town manager Kev Pethick announced on his Facebook account on Thursday night that he had been sacked.

Pethick has only been in the job for a short time following the resignation earlier this season of Rod Pethick.

Callington, who play in the premier division of the Carlsberg South West Peninsula League, had made no comment on the situation by Friday morning.

But the Cornish Times understands a statement would be forthcoming later in the day.

The team have been struggling this season but recent performances have improved and on Wednesday night Callington battled well for a deserved 1-1 draw at Bodmin Town, courtesy of a Ryan Lucassi goal.

Pethick was unable to be at that game due to work commitments.

Lucassi, who put in a man of the match performance against Bodmin, is believed to be a target for another premier division club.
