JJ Jones Duchy Football League
DIVISION FIVE
Liskeard’s newly-formed third team travelled to Newquay to play title fancied Premier Sixes in their first league game of the season.
After a bright start Liskeard found themselves one down after Chris Gregory scored on five minutes but they soon bounced back with a cracking volley from 40 yards from Dan Hinks. They then took the lead on the quarter hour after a long kick from keeper Mote which completely cleared the home defence leaving Zak Mollard to rush through and lob the keeper.
The Blues then competed really well to see out the rest of the half and go in 2-1 up at halftime. On the hour Liskeard won a free kick 30 yards out wide and this saw Harry Gilbert smash it straight into the top corner to open his account. He then added a second 10 minutes later before Sixes’ Kieran Dewsnap quickly pulled one back, but not to be outdone Gilbert then finished off a great passing move to complete his hat- trick on 80 minutes.
Sixes’ Josh Harris then pulled another one back five minutes before time but straight from kick-off Jake Olver finished off another great move with a well-taken strike leaving Sixes’ Gregory scoring a late consolation right at the end.
Liskeard were 6-4 winners, taking all three points, sending the travelling away support home happy and a pleased management team.
