Saltash United closed the gap on Carlsberg South West Peninsula League leaders Tavistock to five points with a 2-0 victory over Torpoint Athletic at Kimberley Stadium this afternoon.

Richard Maddison gave the Ashes a 34th minute lead with a clinical finish from 15 yards and Sam Stevens made sure of the points eight minutes from time with a fine header after good work from substitutes Jimmy Alexander and Sam Farrant.
