After nearly 13 years Dobwalls women’s football team have been forced to withdraw from all competitions.
The team have not played a league match since November 15, losing to Launceston before beating Illogan RBL in the county cup on January 10.
A club statement said: ‘The decision was made prior to the scheduled away fixture to Illogan RBL on Sunday, February 7. Dobwalls were unable to field a team and this made it three out of the last four fixtures that we were unable to fulfil.’
‘Despite having 26 players signed on, there were insufficient players simultaneously available to fulfil these commitments. Lack of available players was not the result of one thing but rather the unfortunate culmination of a whole series of coincident circumstances.’
Callington Town are now the only East Cornwall club still playing senior women’s football.
