The South East Cornwall Boxing Day derby between Dobwalls and Liskeard Athletic has been postponed.

Dobwalls called in a referee to inspect the Lantoom Park pitch, which apparently had been damaged by being played on against Porthleven on Saturday.

The club informed the Carlsberg South West Peninsula League at 5pm on Christmas Eve of the decision to postpone.

Liskeard have since offered to reverse the fixture, but by 9pm they had heard nothing back from Dobwalls.

Liskeard joint manager Martin Hodge told the Cornish Times: ‘The lads just want to play. We have offered to reverse the Dobwalls game but they have not got back to us so there’s not a lot we can do about it.

‘So we now look forward to Saturday’s home game against Bere Alston.’

No other Boxing Day fixtures have been postponed yet, with a reasonable weather forecast for the next 36 hours.’
