Cornwall yesterday reached the final of the FA County Youth Cup for the first time with a stunning 2-1 win over Durham at St Blazey.

Two goals from Matt Buchan, one from the penalty spot, saw them home despite jangling nerves after Durham pulled one back late on.

They’ll find out who they play in April’s final today, when the second semi-final takes place between Oxfordshire and Middlesex.

Just two years ago Cornwall County FA sparked protests when they announced they were pulling out of youth competitions due to a £19k cut in grant funding. Yesterday a delighted FA hailed an ‘amazing’ result.
