A FOOTBALL club has come a big step closer to having new facilities thanks to a boost of cash from its local council.

Looe Town FC has raised £19,000 so far towards a new clubhouse and facilities for its younger players. It needed to reach £25,000 in order to unlock a grant from Viridor Credits.

The town council were approached to help out with the shortfall – and in the meantime, the Round Table stepped forward with £1,000 towards the appeal.

At a recent meeting of the full Looe Town Council, it was agreed that the council would provide up to £5,000 in order to enable the club to obtain its grant.

A fund-raising campaign begun by the club has captured the imagination of local supporters.
