Saltash were 14 points up in the first five minutes.

After Ryan Crookshanks and Will Morton went in for tries, both converted by Max Venables, the game settled into an even pattern.

Bude had plenty of puff and grunt up front that Saltash found it tough to deal with, but when Saltash let the ball do the work in the backs, Bude found them hard to live with.

Saltash were 21-5 up by the break thanks to a try by Steve Down that Venables converted.

The Ashes made the game safe after half-time with tries on the run for Ollie Nance and Shaun Crawford. Venables added one more conversion.

For Bude Jason Bolt at No.8 claimed a push-over try then Tully Innes got one from a line-out drive that went 20 metres.
