SALTASH United were comfortable 5-1 winners in their Westinsure Cornwall Senior Cup third-round derby with Callington Town at Ginsters Marshfield Parc.
The Ashes were leading 3-1 at the break, but it was the manner in which they were controlling the game that gave the impression that Callington were never going to get back into the tie.
Town player-manager Lee Beer did not make any excuses after the final whistle.
He said: 'We were outclassed by a strong Saltash. The fact that this was only our second game in six weeks did not help the gulf between the two sides.
'Saltash's strength in depth certainly told. When they made changes it was quality that came off and quality that went on.'
The Callington manager was particularly impressed by the Ashes' young right-winger, Luke Doddridge.
'He looks to have a good future ahead of him,' he added.
Saltash joint manager Kevin Hendy was pleased with the way his side bounced back after their heavy home defeat the previous weekend.
'This was a professional, solid performance and this was probably the most comfortable I've felt all season,' he admitted.
'We wanted to get our confidence back after the Buckland defeat. Now we have to reproduce that sort of confident performance against Bodmin.'
