WITH Great Britain's crews enjoying so much London 2012 medal success at Eton Dorney during the past fortnight, one East Cornwall rower already has his sights set on the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.

Dan Clift, from Torpoint, attended Torpoint Community College and went on to study PE and Sports Science at Leeds Metropolitan University.

The 24-year-old returned to the South West to complete his secondary PGCE at UCP Marjon, qualifying as a PE teacher, before applying for the 'Tall and Talented' initiative, which aims to find the next generation of Olympic gold medallists.

Through this scheme, Dan was successful in gaining a place on the GB Rowing Start programme and relocated to Cambridge for his coaching.

And he is now aiming to win Olympic gold at the 2016 Games in Rio.
