A group of cyclists who are travelling around Britain in an epic endurance challenge are due to visit the Eden Project next week.

The Countrywide Great Tour is a 64-day, 6,800-kilometre event which never losing the sight, the sound or the smell of the sea.

It started from Holyhead, North Wales, on July 4, the day the Tour de France started. Cyclists are covering 100 kilometres a day and are raising funds and awareness for charities across the UK.

The tour stops at the Eden Project on Tuesday (August 18) and then sets off the following day, heading west to Falmouth. It is due to finish on Saturday, September 5, in Anglesey, the day before the Aviva Tour of Britain’s leaves from the island.

The Countrywide Great Tour is being put on in tandem with CTC, the national cycling charity which supports thousands of everyday cyclists to realise the joys and benefits of cycling.

The event is working closely with a number of charities, including Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research; Anthony Nolan; Macmillan; and Alzheimer’s Society.
