SALTASH will have to wait until tomorrow to find out who they will meet in the quarter-finals of the Cornwall Senior Cup after this hard-fought victory at Kimberley Stadium on Wednesday evening.

They averted having to travel to Ludgvan this weekend by getting the Kimberley pitch playable, as a third postponement would have seen the tie switched – just as Launceston's game against St Dennis has been.

The Ashes are away to the winners of that tie in the last eight, but they had to work hard to beat a useful Ludgvan outfit.

The Jolly's Cornwall Combination side had their chances, but Saltash took theirs, and the first goal arrived on 26 minutes.

Richard Maddison and Matt Cusack combined on the edge of the area, which gave the latter the space to lash the ball home.
