A MEMORIAL match is set to take place to remember Cornwall cricket legend Geoff Husband, who passed away last month aged 84.
Tributes have poured in for the former Callington and Gunnislake wicketkeeper, who was still playing cricket last year.
Due to the lockdown restrictions making his funeral a strictly family-only affair, his wife, Pauline, is keen for people to have the chance to remember Geoff when it is safe to do so.
‘Callington have already offered to stage a memorial game for Geoff, and players have already said they want to be a part of it,’ she said.
‘When the time is right, a game would be the correct thing to do.’
She added: ‘I have had so many cards from people who knew Geoff, on top of all the tributes on Facebook and the internet.
‘I only wish Geoff could see them all and know how much people thought of him.’
Geoff’s son, also called Geoff, wrote on Facebook: ‘The idea of a memorial match does sound wonderful for some time in the future, when people can celebrate his life in the way I know he would have wished himself.
‘We’d like to thank everyone for their tributes – the riches of a man can only be measured by his friends.’
