Saltash Sailing Club hosted the J24 Autumn Cup last weekend, a two-day event in weather conditions which tested the fleet of 12 yachts, as well as the race organisers.

Three windward/leeward races in Plymouth Sound, planned for the first day, had to be re-scheduled for quieter waters upriver, following an exciting race up the Hamoaze in strong and gusty easterly winds.

Conditions at the mouth of the Lynher allowed exciting beats to windward and white-knuckle rides downwind, with some dramatic broaches and at least one grounding on a mud bank.
