DJM Ardent League
Dobwalls 3 Morley Rangers 0
On a wet blustery day, praise must go the ground staff for keeping the pitch good enough for one of the few DJM games to go ahead.
The homeside repaid the hard work with three points after a clean sheet performance.
A diagonal strong wind aided the away side's first half performance which pinned the Reds in for most of the half. They had a handful of breaks but couldn't convert.
Morley, playing in their away green strip, applied good pressure and worked the ball well and the homeside defence had to dig deep to maintain a half-time clean sheet, even after the away side hit the woodwork twice.
Having not conceded to the early pressure gave the Reds the confidence to go on in the second half and boss the game.
James Lorenz applied the pressure to earn himself a scrappy goal and Harry Gilbert acted instinctively straight after the restart and buried a right-footed bullet from the right wing.
A change in personnel by Dobwalls gave the whole squad playing time and the substitutes were active in their roles, Chris Owen making a fine clearance and Harry Savage playing the ball out quickly from the back.
Man of the Match Nathan Behennah encapsulated the work ethic of the squad and was rewarded with Dobwall's third goal to put the game out of sight.
Kaya Esmer was positive moving forward and captain Jacob Olver was always keeping the shape of the team solid.
Keeper Conner Mote and his counterpart from Morley, Matthew Marshall, were awarded the Fair Play honours.
