JOLLY'S DRINKS CORNWALL PREMIER DIVISION
Camborne v. Callington
CALLINGTON went down to a heavy defeat at Camborne after choosing to put their opponents into bat after winning the toss. A shower of rain just before the start time probably influenced the visitors' decision not to bat first on a greenish pitch. But, 55 overs later, with the home total on 320, that decision was bound to come into question. Camborne openers Kevin Roberts and Matt Rowe rattled up 65 in 12 overs before Jim Shorten tempted Roberts to hit one out to Nick Parker, and he was caught for 31. Sam Pooley had made 18 when he was dismissed by the Robins brothers combination, and Nick King went for 13, caught at mid- off by Aidan Libby off Tom Dinnis, who followed that up with the wicket of the guesting West Indian Chi Payne with his very next ball. However, Callington's excitement was shortlived as Rowe and Liam Weeks added 127 for the fifth wicket, with Weeks making 76.
