Callington were given a real test by their lower division hosts before finally claiming a place in the last eight of the league cup.
'We expected a tough game against a Galmpton side that is top of Division One East and we had to dig in at times. But all credit to the lads for a battling performance on a tricky surface and we now look forward to the quarter-final draw,' said Town player-manager Gary Williams.
Galmpton showed why they are top of their division as they played the last 54 minutes a man down after Jamie Spence was shown a straight red card for a late challenge.
Galmpton were already a goal down at that stage after a fine 21st minute strike from Ryan Lucassi and, within a minute of the sending-off, Sam Stevens had latched on to a poorly-hit defensive clearance to drive home the Marshmen's second from 18 yards.
However, the home side came back with a spirited second half display and, with 12 minutes remaining, they deservedly pulled a goal back through Liam Jones' low drive and they almost snatched an equaliser, two minutes from time, when the same player stabbed the ball inches wide from close range.
Having survived this scare, Callington then showed their Premier Division quality by sealing the tie when a quick break upfield resulted in James Yates completing the scoring.
