JOLLY'S DRINKS CORNWALL PREMIER DIVISION

Newquay v Callington

THIS was a hugely disappointing result, after a good bowling performance was ruined by inept and, it has to be said, heartless batting. Matt Robins had won the toss on an overcast and breezy afternoon, and had invited the home side to bat first. After a couple of overs to set their sights, the bowlers were soon in control, and with only nine runs on the board, Aidan Libby had Joe Crane caught behind down the leg side by Joe White. Joe White took another sharp catch to dismiss last man Gibson, and Newquay were all out for 99 in the 32nd over. Callington were eventually dismissed for a dispiriting 69 with the spinners, Pearce and Arshad, taking six for 24 and four for 29 respectively.
