A FIELD of 68 Fossils took part in the annual Willcocks Trophy Stableford competition.

Although no rain fell during the event, conditions were cold and dank and, following overnight frost, 18 temporary greens were in operation.

However, that failed to

inhibit the players, with many returning superb scores, meaning that the winner was in doubt until the last card was in.

Clive Rides brought some festive cheer by holing out in one on the much shortened 12th hole, thereby his podium finish.

For at least one week this year, the Gold Division could not compete with

Silver and Bronze, except at the bottom of the leaderboard where Barry Nicholson took the honour of winning 'The Dangler'.

The Willcocks Trophy was awarded to Havilland Bassett with a fantastic score of 48 points.
