EAST Cornwall youngster Alice Gray enjoyed success in this year's British Schools' Biathlon Championships, held at the University of Bath on Sunday.

The event involves athletes who had achieved top-six places in their respective schools going up against each other nationally in swimming and track-running.

Alice, competing for Millfield Prep School, Somerset, managed to win the swimming event, before finishing eighth in the 500-metre track event.

This was enough to secure the ten-year-old an individual bronze medal, as well as helping her team to bronze.

Alice, who lives in Calstock, will now go on to represent Millfield in the National Schools competition at Crystal Palace, London, on March 25.

She previously trained with the East Cornwall Harriers and Plymouth Leander Swimming Club, as well as taking part in the Cornish Times-sponsored East Cornwall Harriers Primary Schools' Cross-Country League.
