Saltash Utd Juniors 16 Southgate Utd Colts 2

High riding Saltash were rarely troubled and even allowed goalkeeper Tony Jane the luxury of a second half striker's role which saw him grab a hat trick.

With barely two minutes on the clock Myles Evans opened the account for Ashes and further goals soon followed from Adam Hutchings (4), Martin Burt and Daniel Thompson.

In the second half, with the game all but won, Tony Jane, normally found between the sticks, was let loose in the forward line and Lee Jackets donned the No 1 jersey to hold the fort at the back

Tony, holding back his desire to pick up the ball, showed a good turn of pace to beat the Southgate defence and slot in his first for the season. Enjoying the applause and the afternoon sunshine he went on to complete his hat trick!

Adam Hutchings scored a further two goals, David Wright netted twice, Daniel Thompson looped the ball over the keeper from a tight angle and Luke Blakeston finished off the afternoon with the final goal.

Credit must also go to the Southgate side who never gave up.

Looe Juniors 1

Elburton Villa 1

Looe Juniors played host to Elburton Villa with Looe looking to complete the double over their Plymouth rivals.

Looe played the first half against the wind and created the best chances in front of goal.

Chris Golthorpe and Sam Grant should have opened Looe's account.

At half time Looe manager Jeff Stacey encouraged his team to use the wings instead of kicking the ball down the middle.

Looe dominated the opening ten minutes and were rewarded with a goal from defender Adam Taylor who scored with a 15 yard low drive to the goalkeepers right.

This goal was Elburton's wake up call because they set about the equaliser, dominating the rest of the match.

Kevin Ridgers in goal made five brilliant saves but could do nothing about Elburton's equaliser.

David King had a good game in the heart of the defence. In the end both teams settled for a point, which was a fair result.

East Cornwall Youth Football League U14

St Stephen 1

PLAYING with ten men from the kick off, Dobwalls made an impressive and commanding start, storming into a three goal lead after only eight minutes.

New boy Jack Bartlett had a dream debut, opening the scoreline with a well taken shot within the penalty box.

After a good build-up from midfield, Wilson made it two, and then three with a close range effort. St Stephen immediately consolidated and held on till half time just the three goals down.

The restart saw Dobwalls under heavy pressure from the St Stephen attack with their midfield pushing forward with an ever growing physical presence, but the defence of Lovelock, Tuite, Starr and Powell were equal to everything thrown at them.

With the defence holding firm, it was hard work from Rouke, Benney and Hocking who supplied Bartlett with another chance to make it four and Wilson with the chance to complete his hat-trick and Dobwalls' fifth.

St Stephen were determined to deny Sam Lovelock in the Dobwalls goal a clean sheet and succeeded late in the game with a long-range effort.

This excellent result maintains Dobwalls challenge for the championship. Man of the match was Dan Lovelock.
