Being able to field their strongest side for some time the home side were always in the lead. As normal the Liskeard pack performed strongly and constantly drove the visiting pack backwards. It was from a typical forward effort that Matt Nance was able to peel away from a maul and score the first try in the corner. Not long after, with the forwards again in control, Tom Rawlings picked up from the back of the scrum and crashed through the defence from 20 yards to give Liskeard a 10 point lead which Ned Mann was able to increase with the conversion.

The Bude backs were always going to be a threat and on a number of occasions only heroic tackling from Mann and Mark Cook kept them at bay, but eventually the visitors found enough room to reduce the deficit just before half-time.

From the restart Bude came back strongly and again their backs made room to outstrip the home defence and score in the corner. Liskeard now had the slope in their favour and the forwards were able to retain possession and keep the ball away from the visiting attack line. The pressure was certain to tell eventually and Neil Grose was not going to miss his opportunity to run through the defence and score near the posts to give Mann a simple conversion.

Liskeard went to sleep for 15 minutes and gave the visitors an easy try which was converted, and despite Rawlings scoring almost from the kick-off which was converted by Mann, promptly let the Bude attack reduce the deficit to four points. The home side did finally wake up and after a period of sustained pressure Rawlings was able to make good use of a five yards scrum to score in the corner just before the final whistle.
