The Grace Community Church family said 'bon voyage' on Sunday to a group of its young members, who set out on a globe-trotting mission to third world countries. Ben Galatia and James Horton, from Liskeard, Danny O'Rourke, from Altarnun, and Julia Brammel, of Millendreath, who was unable to be in the photograph, are to spend the next six months studying and working with the Youth With A Mission organisation (YWAM). They will undergo an intensive three-month personal development programme, followed by a further three months working in some of the poorest countries in the world. All four have had to raise their own funding, in total around £18,000. James explained the purpose of their mission: 'All four of us want to learn more about Jesus Christ, develop a closer relationship with him over the first three months and then we want to go out into the world and let people know how he can impact on their lives. 'Three of us will begin in Hawaii and then move onto to Africa, while Ben will be based in Nuneaton and then probably spend time in south east Asia. 'Some people have asked why we don't do all this at home. That is a great question and we were pleased it was asked. Quite simply, it will help us grow as young adults and Christians, we will be challenged about our own lives and, upon our return, we believe that all four of us will be better equipped and prepared to meet the wants and needs of our local communities'
