Pupils from primary schools in the south east of Cornwall battled atrocious conditions as they took part in their latest cross-country league meeting.

Parents said the event held on the National Trust’s Cotehele estate was a ’mudbath’.

The competitors were soaked through but some still managed big grins as they took on the course.
